Famous Tortoise Survivor of World War I Celebrates 106 Years in New Zealand

New Zealand’s only living World War 1 “veteran” is a tortoise, who it is estimated could be 200 years old. ‘Torty’ survived being run over by a French gun carriage, and was brought back to New Zealand in 1918 by her rescuer, stretcher bearer Stewart Little.
